Lisa Gormley (born 29 September 1984) is an Australian actress and best known for playing Bianca Scott on the Channel 7 serial drama Home and Away.
Lisa was born in Bradford, in the north of England moving to Barossa Valley, Australia at age 3 and a farm in Tasmania, Australia at the age of 12. She is a country girl at heart, Lisa immediately made herself at home spending her formative years on the 50-acre (200,000 m2) property.
At a young age Lisa appeared in youth community theatre with a vivid memory of her first play, which was Oliver. Lisa’s attraction to theatre is that she is an only child and was really excited to have people around her. Community theatre was how she fell in love with acting.
Lisa attended Woodbridge District High School from 1997-2000. She then attended Rosny College in Hobart from 2001-2002. She performed as a courtesan in the school’s annual stage production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” c.2001.
After finishing college, Lisa travelled to the UK where she became a flight attendant for Qantas and she realised in many ways that it was the same as performing. Lisa learned a lot about people as a flight attendant.
When Lisa returned to Australia she was accepted into NIDA, in which she was involved in technical production, teaching, directing and acting. She graduated at the end of 2009. Lisa received the role of Bianca Scott, the sister of April Scott (Rhiannon Fish), in Home and Away in 2010. Lisa secured the role in March 2010.
Lisa has also appeared in the 2010 film Before the Rain
NIDA graduate Lisa Gormely joins Home and Away as language teacher Bianca Scott. Bianca moves to Summer Bay nursing a broken heart but through her wit and tough exterior she keeps a firm emotional guard up.
Lisa was born in North England on September 24 1984 and moved to Barossa Valley age three, then relocated to a farm in Tasmania at 12. A country girl at heart, Lisa was immediately at home spending her formative years on the 50- acre property.
Lisa started appearing in youth community theatre, with a vivid memory of her first play Oliver. Lisa explains the attraction:
“I am an only child, and was really excited to have people around me. Community theatre was how I fell in love with acting.”
After completing high school Lisa travelled and worked in the UK as a flight attendant for Qantas and realised in many ways it was the same as performing:
“I love people watching and psychology. I learnt a lot about people and their behavior as a flight attendant.”
On her return to Australia Lisa was accepted into NIDA, graduating at the end of 2009. She secured the role as Bianca in March:
“When I first read the character, I immediately felt connected to her. Bianca has the confidence every woman wants but at the same time she is very broken, her strength is her front. She is a little bit out of place in the Bay and she fights every man she meets. Her sister April is the only one she can trust to tell her how it is in life.”
Outside of work Lisa loves going to the theatre, movies and socializing.
